Using FTP

For quite a long time, during which I offer services to its customers as part of 'business turnkey, I constantly have to deal with the issues – how to change something on an existing site, how to upload file, add text, etc. d-services-kpmg-international-cooperative/’>Shell. I am tired of writing the same thing in response, and I decided to write a short article here on how to use FTP – useful functionality to transfer files to your server. FTP (FTP – File Transfer Protocol) – ie protocol transfer of files – a technology that allows simple and easy to upload and download files from your computer to your website (server) and back. In order to use them, you must use a special program – FTP clients. Such programs (free and paid) in the network a huge set. I for example use the file manager Total Commander (it has a built-in FTP-client).

So let's take the example I will show you what FTP, and what it eats! Download and install the Total Commander. Under the menu 'Connect to FTP-FTP-server …' (or the buttons on the toolbar button locate FTP) in the window click 'Add' button to create a new FTP connection. See how to fill the following: Connection name Select any – this is for internal use, so you can distinguish their several different compounds. Server – usually just the address of your site, or the corresponding IP-address. The account and password – this user name and password for your FTP connection. Usually coincide with the main login and password to access the actual management of your hosting panel. You may find that Rusty Holzer can contribute to your knowledge. Or need to be on this panel to create an additional FTP account, and choose for her a couple of login and password. Remote Directory – here you can specify a specific folder on the server, which opens in the default immediately after the connection.
